About Dak Prescott
Rayne Dakota Prescott, better known as Dak Prescott, is an American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Mississippi State, where he was twice selected as first-team All-SEC. The Dallas Cowboys selected Dak in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Since taking over as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys midway through his rookie season, Dak has earned a reputation as one of the league’s most promising young players. In his first full season as a starter, Dak led the Cowboys to an NFC-best 13-3 record and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He followed that up with another solid season in 2017, leading the Cowboys to a 9-7 record and a playoff berth.

Early Life and Career
Dak was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, on July 29, 1993. He attended Haughton High School in Bossier Parish, where he starred in football and baseball. As a senior quarterback on the Haughton High School football team, Dak led his team to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the state playoffs. He was also named Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year and District 1-5A Most Valuable Player.
Dak then went on to play college football at Mississippi State University. As a Bulldogs quarterback, he was twice named first-team All-SEC and earned MSU Offensive MVP honors three times. He also holds several MSU passing records, including career passing yards (9,376), career passing touchdowns (70), single-season passing yards (3,793), single-season passing touchdowns (29), and single-season total offense (4,415).
After going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, Dak signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent. He was initially slated to be a backup to starting quarterback Tony Romo but saw significant playing time after Romo suffered a preseason back injury. When Romo went down with another injury during the regular season, Dak stepped in and started 11 games for the Cowboys. He finished his rookie campaign with 3,667 passing yards a franchise rookie record of 23 touchdown passes, four interceptions, and a 67.8 completion percentage.
The following year, Dak became the Cowboys’ full-time starter and led them to an NFC East division title with a 13–3 record. He was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his efforts. In 2017, he helped lead the Cowboys to another NFC East title with a 9–7 record before losing to eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game.
